Dear Mr. Mishra, Subject: Withdraw the Draft EIA Notification, 2020 [F.N.2-50/2018/IA.III] This is with reference to the Draft EIA notification, 2020 which was uploaded on the MoEFCC. The need to ease of doing business is understood but it is not in the spirit of the Environmental Protection Act to reduce the regulations to promote development.

Development can go hand in hand with environmental conservation and preservation. Stressing only on economic progress and pure negligence towards the environment has backfired in the past with examples of Bhopal Gas Tragedy in India and most recently zoonotic diseases like COVID-19 spreading across the world.

Please consider to withdraw the draft and create stricter rules to prevent horrific events like gas well blast in Assam in June. It is the best interest of the nation to help enrich the environment we are gifted with. I reject the interest to reduce the number of days for public participation as well as a number of projects that qualify for it. Mitigation measures proposed by developers can never recover the damage once done as will be permitted by post-facto environmental clearance. The EIA currently is a very weak tool as is. Weakening it further will set off our nation's progress in the wrong direction and will impede future vision for generations to come.

Please consider this email, as part of public input, and withdraw the Draft EIA Notification 2020.

Thank you.

Sincerely, ________
